Freemium is Byju's way to earn money

Byju's business model (ie earning format) is 'freemium' style. Freemium is actually made up of two words. 'Free' and 'Premium'. You will find many applications in this model. These basic features are provided for free, but if you want advanced features, you will need to subscribe monthly, semi-annually or annually. Key features of Byju's include demo classes and more. The first is a trial period of 15 days, then students have to purchase the course. Or rather you have to pay the course fee.

One of Byju's sources of income is 'teaching in the classroom'. The same as the license plate has traditionally been given.

How BYJU's got started?

Despite topping the IIM's recruitment exam, the person who did not take admission in it started this app in 2015. In March, Byju's was valued at Rs 95 thousand crores after receiving more than 3,328 crores funding. Now BYJU's fundraising is going to raise Rs 4,500 crore more. With this, the valuation of this startup will be $ 1,500 million (about one lakh crore rupees). In just 6 years, it will become India's largest startup after Paytm in terms of valuation. The growth story of this Edu tech startup is astonishing.

Who made BYJU?

When you hear the name Byju's, you may initially think that the name of the app means "buy". Like "by-hatke". But this is not the case. This application is actually named after its founder Baij Rabindranath.

Rabindranath worked in Great Britain. Apart from this, some students also prepare for the CAT entrance exam. Also, he passed the CAT exam and got 100% marks.

We are talking about a "cat". It is one of the toughest tests not only in India but all over the world.

Believing that "somebody might have been joking," he took the CAT exam again and scored 100 percentile.

Percentile is different from percentile in that if you have 100% marks, it means you have 100 marks out of 100. However, if you have 100 percentile, you cannot say that you have 100 marks out of 100. But one thing is for sure, you have the highest marks, other than them there are fewer marks, some may be equal to you. So the 100th percentile means that now the remaining numbers will be counted and compared to your number, not hundreds.

Hence Byjus Raveendran was not admitted to the IIMs even after clearing the recruitment test. Instead, he started training people for entrance exams in IIMs. This model of his studies was also of freemium style. This meant that students were initially taught for free, and when popularity began to rise, they began to charge.

Between 200 and 2011, the number of Byju's students increased from 0 to thousands. One of his students inspired him that it was time to start his own business. After this, he founded the company "Think and Learn Pvt Ltd" with his wife Divya Gokulnath. That was 2011. Five years later, in 2015, "Byju's: The Learning App" was launched.

For the last one and a half years i.e. from September 5, 201, Byju's will be written on the Indian cricket team's jersey on display till at least March 1, 2021. Actually, these rights were with Oppo for five years (March 2017 to March 2022). But due to "some problems", he sold these rights to BYJU at a small loss. Looks like Vivo has sold the rights of IPL Dream11.
